Reading Materials for wedding + Katie May Gowns + Wedding Planning Tips

When We are reading, Materials for wedding

Why marriage? by Mari Nichols-Haining

We like this next poem because it explains just how a marriage should work… it’s more modern than the first poem but it says it all perfectly.

Because to the depths of me, I long to love one person,
With all my heart, my soul, my mind, my body…

Because I need a forever friend to trust with the intimacies of me,
Who won’t hold them against me,
Who loves me when I’m unlikable,
Who sees the small child in me, and
Who looks for the divine potential of me…

Because I need to cuddle in the warmth of the night,
With someone I feel blessed to hold…

Because marriage means opportunity,
To grow in love in friendship…

Because marriage is a discipline,
To be added to a list of achievements…

Because marriages do not fail, people fail,
When they enter into marriage,
Expecting another to make them whole…

Because, knowing this,
I promise myself to take full responsibility,
For my spiritual, mental and physical wholeness,
I create me,
I take half of the responsibility for my marriage,
Together we create our marriage…

Because with this understanding,
The possibilities are limitless.

Real Brides in Katie May Gowns

Katie May launched her bridal collection in 2012, after designing her younger sister’s wedding gown – isn’t that lovely?

(See the first ever Katie May dress, ‘Princeville’, in the first three photos below).

And, just in case you were wondering, you don’t have to be a six foot tall model with a small bust to wear these A-line wedding dresses (although of course it helps) just take a look at the real brides below rocking their Katie May wedding gowns.

For brides who’d like a little more support up top, Katie recommends Nubra Ultralite (fashion forms) Bra or, the Nearly Me Breast Enhancer inserts, which add fullness, light support, and lifts the natural breast.  The Nearly Me Breast Enhancer brand is purchased by 90% of Katie May brides and can give anywhere from 1/2 cup increase to 2 full cup sizes.

Don’t they look beautiful?
And just you wait until you see the brand new 2013 collection after the launch at NYC Bridal Market in October! The Grecian inspired ‘Santorini’ has stolen my heart. Read full post ...

We’re Going To Ibiza

Heather The Bride: We originally had a UK wedding booked at a Barn in the Cotswolds but it was becoming a very big affair with lots of pressure and expense and as parents we couldn’t justify our children not having a holiday and the day just didn’t feel like Us – so we cancelled and decided to make a holiday of our Wedding with our closest family and friends. Many of whom thought we had gone slightly crazy…

There’s a big wedding market in Ibiza and to be fair all of the Venues are special. Within minutes of meeting Vickki from Eat Ibiza we knew we wanted her to take care of our day and after an afternoon of viewing various Agroturismo’s in the Ibiza Countryside we had one place left to view – Elixir Shore Club. Vickki had actually just bought Elixir and was renovating ready to open. As soon as we walked in we both loved it, the stunning view, the interior couldn’t be more our style and the menu looked REALLY REALLY good including a BBQ option, which was exactly what we were looking for. We were so excited to show everyone a year later and got the exact same reaction from all of our guests!  Read full post ....

Wedding Planning Tips: Choosing The Right Colour Palette

by Elizabeth via Bridal Musings
Super creative wedding planners, Pocketful of Dreams are back with their latest instalment of helpful wedding planning advice.

If you’ve been following along with our Expert Wedding Planning Tips series, you’ll know how clever those Pocketful of Dreams ladies are – this time Michelle and Vicki are sharing their top tips on one of my favourite aspects of wedding planning – colour palettes!

Today we are back on Bridal Musings, talking about colours and how to choose the right colour palette for your wedding.

Quite often the first thing that couples think about when considering the design of their wedding day is the colours they will use. And your colour palette certainly is important, as it will help to set the tone of your day. Soft, blush shades will help to bring to life a dreamy, romantic look whilst strong jewel shades might be more appropriate for a bolder day full of vibrancy.

However, it’s important to think about a colour palette in the context of a number of other elements and so we’re sharing our top tips for finding the perfect tones for your day:

The Psychology of Colour

Colours have an amazing ability to evoke strong psychological responses and can affect both moods and emotions so you may want to think about what you are communicating through your colour palette. A strong cherry red for example is typically associated with vibrancy, excitement and passion so could be the perfect accent colour for a fun, energetic day or perhaps a more sultry and high-end glamour look. Think back to the type of day you’re trying to create and consider whether the colours you are looking at fit naturally into your vision.
